Charitable Status
Written by Secretary - Shark and Coral Conservation Trust on 15/11/07

It is very pleasing to receive our Charitable Trust status. Our Registration Number with the Charity Commission is 1121609. Over the next few days we shall be making our website 'Donations' Paypal account live.

The conservation of sharks and their habitats (in particular coral reef eco-systems) remains as urgent as ever, so please feel free to donate through our 'Donations' menu item.

We are extending the range of our interests to include research into the sustainability of algae and the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) programme, promised in the Government White Paper. With the storage of CO2 being planned for sub seabed salt aquifers and depleted oil strata, the effects on marine bio-diversity will require careful monitoring. This momitoring exercise will take up a proportion of our funding and is seen as critically important in ensuring that the 'basis of marine and land-based life' and the essential balances are not threatened.
