Dear Richard,
Thank you for this very important report on the BBC website today. Of course forests are critically important to both the carbon sink (and cycle), atmospheric oxygen generation and global biodiversity. However, the forests only contribute some 40% of these assets (including the 'hidden' financial returns amounting to trillions). The remaining 60% is provided by the world's oceans. Is it not time people sat up and took notice of the need for marine conservation measures which, I believe, are even more important than forest conservation ?
