'Toothless' IPCC and CITES - Utter Despair !! Written by Monty Halls (Senior) on 29/03/10
Right now, I am feeling at the point of utter despair !! In common with the failed IPCC talks in Copenhagen (and hard on their heels) CITES have proved themselves as another 'Toothless Talking Shop' - both seem to be open to the simplest of political ambushes. The mood is striking me to go out and buy some bluefin tuna sushi (afer a bowl of sharks fin soup), then on to buy a good old 'gas-guzzling' car to run to the stockbroker to invest in the developing Chinese power-generation industry (600 more coal-fired power stations planned to augment the existing 600-odd) to fuel their industrial development. At the same time, I might buy a few stocks in the USA coal-fired industrial development (600 coal-fired power generating plants). After that, I could go out and buy some nice porites coral (to put on my new elecric-power-hungry storage radiators)!!
The Trustees keep me on a 'sensible and objective argument rein', but once in a while it is more than enough to give you these feelings of 'Utter Despair' !! |
